Washington Event Infrastructure Standards
Standard statutory & contractual benchmarks governing procurement in Washington:
Commercial event infrastructure throughout Washington triggers municipal fire marshal inspections for structures exceeding statutory footprint baselines. Major clearspan structures require licensed Professional Engineer (PE) structural calculation stamps validating site-specific wind and seismic resilience.
Commercial contracts in Washington bifurcate hardware rentals from certified installation and rigging labor, minimizing sales tax liabilities where labor is non-taxable. Suppliers carry 2 Million to 10 Million USD commercial liability coverage naming host municipalities and enterprise sponsors as additional insureds.

Google Review Sentiment & Client Excerpts
“Positive feedback highlights the dedicated staff, beautiful venues, and comprehensive service that simplifies event planning. Conversely, some clients reported challenges with communication, policy discrepancies, and service execution, particularly regarding bar operations and security.”
We worked with Landmark Event Co. to host and plan our wedding in March of 2026 on the MV Skansonia and we had the absolute best experience. Everyone, EVERYONE, we had the pleasure of working with was just above and beyond our expectations when it came to service, attentiveness, professionalism, FUN, care, knowledge, etc. We want to personally call out Hailey, Rudy, Chef Michelle, Juan, Katrina (Love Blooms Floral), our bartender (who's name I do not remember - I'm SO SORRY), and our waitress (also who's name I do not remember - I'm SO SORRY). Thank you, Landmark, and your team for giving us the BEST WEDDING we could ever ask for. We loved it, and our guests loved it, and that meant THE WORLD.
We recently had the best wedding experience at the MV Skansonia, and we couldn't be happier with our choice! From the moment we stepped foot onto the boat, we were mesmerized by the views. The scenery provided the perfect backdrop for our special day, creating an atmosphere of dreamy romance that exceeded our wildest dreams. One of the things that truly set Landmark apart was that they’re all-in-one. Working with them included catering, bar services, table linens and the venue itself. This made the entire planning process incredibly convenient and stress-free. We didn't have to worry about coordinating with multiple vendors or managing different aspects of the event separately. Everything we needed was right there, under one roof, which allowed us to focus on what truly mattered - celebrating our day with our friends and family. The staff were an absolute blast to work with. From our initial inquiry to the last call on the night of the wedding, they were there for us every step of the way. Sarah, in particular, deserves special recognition for her communication and planning skills. She was dedicated to ensuring that our day turned out absolutely perfect. She listened to our vision, offered invaluable advice, and went above and beyond to make sure that every detail was taken care of. Her professionalism made us feel completely at ease, knowing that we were in the best possible hands. Thanks to the outstanding efforts of the entire team at Landmark, our wedding day was nothing short of spectacular. The seamless coordination, impeccable service, and stunning surroundings exceeded all of our expectations. We can't recommend them enough to any couple looking for the perfect place to say "I do." Trust us, you won't be disappointed!
Update 9/8/26: After the venue responded to my review, I reached out to the email address they provided the same day to discuss this matter. After three weeks, I still hadn’t received a response. I also want to include that I'm disappointed in the way they worded their comment to this review. Saying that our wedding “didn’t meet our expectations” makes it seem like it was a perception, when my review was about specific things that happened throughout the planning process and on our wedding day. I was hoping their response would lead to a conversation but I never heard back. Unfortunately, this lack of communication reinforced the same concerns I had in my initial review. —————————— I worked with Landmark Event Co. at their Seattle venue, The Ruins, for my 2025 wedding. In less than a year of planning, my husband and I dealt with four different wedding coordinators, not including the venue coordinator. While the first coordinator, Trevor, was extremely accommodating and welcoming, and Ruby, the coordinator we had for the last two weeks of planning was a rockstar, the other two left a lot to be desired. In addition, the constant turnover made the wedding planning exhausting and unreliable since we had to continuously repeat previous conversations. One of the main reasons why we chose The Ruins was because we were told verbally that our dogs could attend the wedding and stay in a side room during dinner. Because my husband and I met due to our dogs, we felt like they were an extremely important part of our relationship and wanted to ensure they were able to celebrate with us. In later planning meetings, we were told this was not allowed. Because we didn’t have any proof in writing, we had to scramble for last minute dog sitters. This part felt extremely misleading and incredibly disappointing. The communication between Landmark and my partner and I/the wedding coordinators was very poor. After we signed our contract, Landmark changed their catering structure from à la carte to per-person pricing and repeatedly pressured us to switch. During the tasting event, they only showcased the food that they wanted us to choose from, which mostly were not the meals we wanted to share with our loved ones. To taste test the food we did want, we had to schedule a separate tasting and pay for it. We wanted to ensure not only that the food was delicious, but that it was abundant. We had 70 people RSVP to our wedding, so we ordered: three entrees, two salads, and three sides. As normal, we had no shows — ten to be exact. So we had ordered 210 entrees (because we had to buy three entrees per person for us to get a variety for our guests), for 60 people. Yet, guests didn’t get seconds, and the buffet was getting cleared while people were still going to get their plate. I still don’t know where all the food went. Security was also a gigantic issue. Despite being told that security wasn’t necessary, random strangers were walked into the venue while the bridal party was actively changing. Later, during the reception, uninvited individuals came in and started eating the cupcakes that we had brought in for our guests, threatened our personal wedding coordinator, and refused to leave until the coordinator bribed them with gift boxes. This type of experience should never happen, especially since they consider themselves a higher end venue. Our bridal suite was also not respected. We were told that this would stay closed as all of ours and our party’s personal belongings were stored there. In fact, the staff were using the bathroom in the suite and we had to ask the site coordinator to intervene. We spent around $30,000 for this event. I felt as if the coordination between us and the venue/staff were highly unorganized and unprofessional. I would not recommend Landmark Event Co. unless you get everything you want in writing, hire outside security, and are prepared to advocate for yourself constantly.
Leading up to the event, our experience was genuinely good. Our venue coordinator, Kateryna, was excellent throughout the entire planning process, the food was excellent, and the team was accommodating with every request we brought to them. Smoking accommodations were actually one of my biggest criteria when choosing this venue, and it was confirmed in writing across multiple emails during planning that smoking would be permitted in a designated outdoor area. That mattered enough to me that I made sure it was documented before booking. During the event, my brother stepped outside to smoke in that exact designated area, came back in smelling of smoke, and was refused a drink for it. When I raised that with their team afterward, their response was to claim smoking wasn't permitted anywhere on the property, including outdoors, directly contradicting their own emails. It only became a problem once I complained. The bar is where the night truly fell apart! We paid for a full open bar, and it was not cheap! Early in the evening, an issue came up over shots, the lead bartender pulled me aside personally and assured me she'd make sure we had a good time. Almost immediately after saying that her disposition was nasty - and I mean downright nasty! The entire night guests were told they could only have two specific cocktails, not what I had already paid for. We had also agreed in advance to a 10:45 PM last call, but the bar stopped drinks at 10:30. Guests repeatedly pulled me aside during my own celebration to tell me how they were being treated, rather than enjoying themselves, and we were lectured about Washington state law throughout the evening despite my having emails that document exactly what had been agreed to in advance. One bartender was professional and hospitable throughout the entire evening, which is precisely why I don't accept that any of this was a matter of protocol; if it were truly about policy, every bartender would have applied it consistently. Afterward, I reached out privately, in detail, and in good faith, hoping to resolve this before ever writing a review. The response I received weeks later stated they wanted to make it right, then proceeded to defend the exact staff conduct I had described as policy, disregarding the emails that documented what had actually been agreed to on the bar timing and the smoking. Their idea of making it right was offering me a complimentary round of drinks at their sister property, which is not the impact they said they wanted to make and does nothing to address what actually happened. And in that same email, meant to be an apology, they misspelled my name!! My name is at the top of the email, in the email chain they were replying to, and in the contract they signed. That is not a typo, that is not reading what you are responding to. When someone tells you they were hurt by how your company treated them and their guests, and you cannot be bothered to get their name right while claiming you want to make it right, that tells me exactly how seriously this was taken. I paid in full for an open bar that was cut short and misrepresented, and my guest who most traveled 2000 miles plus were treated unkind and they could not be bothered to make it right! I am disgusted to say the least. This was meant to be a milestone celebration, and the bar manager's conduct, along with the response that followed, turned it into a lasting disappointment. Two stars is generous. In good faith, I cannot recommend this place to family, friends, or even strangers if a full, end-to-end good impression is what you're after.
